Accessibility Guidelines
This is our guide to help you use the additional functions that we have added to help you access our site more easily.
At Vending-Direct.co.uk, we take accessibility very seriously. We have been careful to adopt publishing standards to ensure that the site functions correctly in modern, standards-compliant browsers.
The pages of this site have been designed at least the minimum levels of World Wide Web Consortium and in particular the Web Consortium Accessibility Guidelines. Therefore all visitors including those with disibilities should be able to view our site. If you experience any difficulties, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Text Size
In particular we have allowed simple changes in the size of text to assist in the readability of each page.
The generic methods for adjusting the text-size are as follows:
- Internet Explorer users: Go to the 'View' Menu > Text size
- Firefox users: Go to the 'View' Menu > Text size
- Opera users: Go to the 'File' Menu > Preferences > Fonts > Minimum font size (pixels)
Standards compliance
This website aims to conform to:
- W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines priority 1 and 2
- XHTML 1.02
- CSS 2.03
If do you come across any coding errors of any kind please e-mail our webmaster: info@vending-direct.co.uk
Access Keys
You will see that in some places we have integrated 'access keys' throughout the site. Where you see a link with a single underlined letter, this signifies the relevant key to access that link.
This function allows you to easily navigate the site without the use of a mouse or similar input advice and by using the keyboard only.
These are the standard directions for using access keys whilst using a few of the major web browsers:
Microsoft Internet Explorer
Press "alt" + any access key to highlight the access key link. Press "return" or "enter" to go to the link location.
Mozilla Firefox
Press "alt" + any access key to go directly to that location.
Opera
Press "shift" + "esc" to toggle HTML access keys. Then press any one of the access keys to go to that location.
Design
Each page on this website is print-friendly, so that only the main content text and our logo is displayed on your print-out and none of the extra content, links or images that are unnecessary.
Most of the site is written in cascading styles with very limited use of tables.
All text is assigned a relative font size - this means that you can resize the text if you need.
All images that represent information have been assigned descriptive 'alternative text' and decorative images are either relegated
to the CSS document or have a null ALT attribute.
We aim to make this website accessible to as many as possible. If you experience any kind of problem or have any
feedback about it please e-mail: info@vending-direct.co.uk.
Browser compatibility
This website has been thoroughly tested and proven to offer full functionality on most major web browsers in use today.
This website relies on CSS2, which is unsupported by IE 4 and below and Netscape 4 and below.
It can still be accessed on these browsers but with no styling applied to the pages.
The decision to use CSS2 was taken due to the very small number of Internet users browsing with
these older versions (now less than 1%). We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
